Javier Ángel Encinas Bardem (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, March 1st, 1969), is the first Spanish actor to be nominated for an Academy Award and the first to win eight years later for his role in No Country for Old Men (2008). He has also won five Goyas, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, the prize of the Cannes Film Festival the Best Actor and a Screen Actors Guild award.

Bardem comes from a long line of actors: his grandparents Rafael and Matilde , his mother Pilar and his older brother Carlos are all actors. But it does not end there, since his late uncle Juan Antonio and his cousin Miguel are directors.
